National Education Society® is the parent organization of Sharavathi First Grade College, Konandur, Shivamogga. The senior citizens of Konandur village, Thirthahalli taluk, Shivamogga district, started the Vidyavardhak Sangh in 1960 with the intention of starting a high school in Konandur.
In those days, secondary education was a dream for the rural people. Vidya Vardhak Sangh N.E.S. Shivamogga started the National High School at Konandur in 1960. Later Sharavati First Grade College was started in 1983 to impart higher education to rural students. Previously, this college had N.E.S. It was called Grameen First Class College of Arts and Commerce. Later the name was changed to Sharavathi First Grade College, Konandur.
Sharavathi First Grade College Konandur has excellent infrastructural facility, classrooms, assembly hall, library, separate rest room for girls and boys, women’s hostel, fully equipped gymnasium and playground. The college has qualified, hard working and enthusiastic faculty. There is a constant conscious effort on the part of teachers to improve their qualification and competence as teachers by participating in UGC sponsored research activities, seminars, workshops, orientation and refresher courses.
Sharavathi First Grade College Konandur maintains high academic standards and figures prominently in the top achievers list. It has received many state and university awards for its extensive activities. Usually the annual result is more than 90%. College provides ample opportunity and support to students who excel in sports, music, drama, elocution, debating, NSS. activities, etc., and has produced many students who have excelled in these fields.
