Purnachandra Tejaswi is a prominent Kannada writer and environmentalist from Karnataka, India. He was born on September 8, 1938 in a small village called Kuppalli in Shivamogga district of Karnataka. He was brought up in a literary environment as he was the son of famous Kannada writer Kuvempu.
After graduation from Maharaja’s College, Mysore, M.A. in Kannada from University of Mysore. Graduated.
Tejaswi’s literary works include novels, short stories, travelogues and essays. His writing style is marked by his deep understanding and love for nature, and his works often focus on environmental protection and the need for sustainable living. Some of his notable works include “Chidambara Rahasya,” “Carvalho,” “Jugari Cross,” and “Abachurina Post Office.”
Apart from his literary pursuits, Tejaswi was also actively involved in conservation and environmental activism. He is one of the founding members of the Sahyadri Sanchaya, an organization dedicated to the conservation of the Western Ghats.
Purnachandra Tejaswi left a legacy of literary and environmental excellence on April 5, 2007 at the age of 68.
